Diane Stride is a fully qualified, New Zealand-registered dietitian operating from her clinic in Havelock North, Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand. She deals with all dietary issues, including food allergies and intolerances. Diane is also available for phone, email and Skype consultations if you're outside the Hawke's Bay area.
Diane has a BSc Degree and Post Graduate Diploma in Dietetics from the University of Natal, Pietermaritzburg in South Africa. She has worked extensively with gastroenterologists, immunologists and other dietitians researching the role of diet in treating Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Autoimmune Diseases, food intolerances, and other gastrointestinal disorders.
Due to her own personal journey with an autoimmune disease and inflammatory bowel condition, Diane became increasingly interested in food allergies and intolerances. This led her to embark on a self-directed educational journey where she trained in the US, spent time in a specialist allergy unit in Auckland, as well as hospital allergy clinics in Sydney and Melbourne.
During her journey Diane has been privileged to spend valuable time with a wide range of health and medical professionals working in the field of nutrition, as well as nurses involved in administering skin prick allergy tests. She has also attended workshops at Research Centres in Australia, specially tailored to looking into Irritable Bowel Syndrome and the role of diet.
These days, Diane sleeps right through the night and wakes up feeling refreshed. Her constant joint pains have settled significantly and she has been able to cease taking medications due to successful dietary modifications. Diane now shares the dietary knowledge gained from her own experiences and training, to help others manage the symptoms of autoimmune disease and other health conditions.
With a special interest in food allergies and intolerances, Diane's initial consultations are based on a one-hour session, during which time she takes an extensive diet history along questions about general health. This assists in developing an individual management strategy for each particular situation.
Follow up consultations vary depending on the condition a client presents with. Some food intolerances and allergies can take considerable working through and can therefore require repeat appointments. For those living outside Hawke’s Bay, Diane offers Skype, email and phone consultations.
It is important for Diane to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, which often means involving clients' GPs, immunologists and any other specialists in the dietary field to ensure clients receive optimal nutritional care.
Kick-starting Diane's recovery was the 30-day diet challenge programme. Prior to this Diane was taking a myriad of medications to control the adverse symptoms of her condition. Since the 30-day challenge and the subsequent management of her diet, Diane has managed to significantly minimise the effects of her autoimmune disease and inflammatory bowel condition.
Understandably, following initial consultation to ascertain diet history and other background information, Diane recommends the 30-day challenge to many of her clients as a way to begin their journey to better health through good dietary management. And the good news is, most dietary management plans can provide answers within 3-4 weeks.
